Lights. Camera. Action! As we prepare to re-launch Hear See Hope and celebrate its 20th anniversary, we invited the crew from Hurley Media Group to help us tell our story – to remind people why Hear See Hope (HSH) exists and invite you to meet the future of the foundation.
The video features Dalton McKittrick, HSH’s newest board member and newly minted brand ambassador. A 16-year-old with Usher syndrome, Dalton has spent most of his life preparing to be an advocate for people like himself and brother, Conner. Under bright lights, the camera crew filmed Dalton talking about what his vision is for the foundation and how the work that HSH does can better the lives of families and people who are deafblind.
Dad, Todd, chimed in sharing the history of how the foundation came to be and what it was like as a young father discovering that Conner had been diagnosed with USH IIa, some 20 years ago. Afterward, Todd shared his thoughts on Dalton’s heightened role in the foundation, “This anniversary just felt like the right time to pass the torch to this younger generation to carry on the work we started. Dalton has a passion for helping people and, because he faces the challenges of USH every day, he brings a very personal perspective to the foundation.”
Once the interviews wrapped up, Conner joined the group and challenged Dalton to a card game – trading barbs as all brothers do. Then it was time to take a walk to Downtown Bellevue Park so Conner could demonstrate the expertise he has developed navigating a bustling city with a white cane. The crew captured Conner and Dalton crossing busy intersections and deftly avoiding urban hazards such as bicyclists, distracted pedestrians and uneven sidewalks.
It was a special day that the McKittrick men will remember for a long time. And that’s a wrap!
